Entering into the world of Body Language…
Silent speech or body language as many people like to refer to it as, is a non-verbal communicaton which is exhibited by
humans and some other animals to convey information to each other consciously or subconciously. This is transferred through facial expressions, gestures and body movements.
This type of communication between human-beings is used to convey three types of situations, conscious replacement for speech; to reinforce speech such as when using hand gestures and as a betrayer of mood such as a jolie smile or a discontented frown.
Body language is every type of human behaviour except for verbal communication even breathing to the use of an individual’s time. Furthermore, it does not tell you the whole story about how someone is feeling and being and so at times it is necessary to know what is actually being said.
For example a man wearing dark sunglasses is overall that of a closed and unwelcoming cluster ( negative ). He exhibits the trait of defensiveness by using his folder, legs and arms as barriers from the outside world, being that of you and me and any other person who is around him. The use of dark sunglassed implies that the man has got something to hide as he is concealing his eyes from view. This does not convey trust as he is concealing any eye and pupil activity to fellow observers. Furthermore, the beard disguises and hides away more of his face, reinforcing the projection that this man has got something to hide.

You have been in Body Language your whole life old boy. Oh what fun we’ll all have delving into the secret language! Learn to be a better liar. Get your brain to stop betraying you! “The meaning of your communication is the response you elicit.”
Welcome back to the Greatest Game! Figuring people out. Good luck.

David,
Some good stuff. People are judged by the way they use their body, if the judgement is valid or not.

…or it’s very sunny and the man wants to protect his eyes
…or the man thinks his sunglasses and beard are trendy and will help him pick-up a cougar!
…or he’s cold and he’s folding his arms to try to keep himself warm
…and clearly he doesn’t want anyone to recognise him whilst wearing the blue cap!
Body Language is fascinating, and much is context dependant.

I’ve read some of Kevin’s articles related to body language. It sure can tell you things you might not have noticed. I catch myself doing them and realize hey this is what Kevin is talking about. I’m more abservable of others now.

Body language can provide us with clues as to what they are really trying to say. Thanks for the info.

The guy in the photo reminds me of Ali G heh heh. Pitty he isn’t dressed in yellow. A bit off topic but I wonder about colour choices and how they relate to body langauge.

So totally different response from me . . . I want to walk right up to him and squeeze him around the middle then fuss with the beard thing he has going on. He’s adorable. It looks like he’s trying so hard to be intimidating. How cute!

Hi David,
Body language is always facinating.
I remember some 20 years ago, our Australan Alan Pearce started to shape himself into THE “Body Language Expert” in Australia. His stuff was/is pretty shallow.

Hi David,
I’m with John Ho. I agree. I find Body Language, both learning to read it fairly well as to leveraging certainly Body Language Flirting techniques I have developed to heighten sexual attraction and woman’s seductiveness, to be simply FUN and FASCINATING.
Love the new retro 1970s butch look you’re sporting there in the photo!

Not to mention the guy’s hat, which covers more of his face/head, and the dark colored clothing, which add to the “darkness” of the image the guy projects.
Good post.
